The correct fitting bra can make the difference in your comfort and appearance. This guide will help you measure yourself accurately and help you choose the style/fit which is best for your individual needs. Knowing what a bra should look like and feel like when it fits properly is essentail, so please take a few moments to read the guide below........
What the bra should look like if it fits correctly....
-
Stand and look at your self in the mirror. The back of the bra should be level with the front of the bra, not riding up at the back. It should feel quite firm around the body but not too firm to be uncomfortable. If this is not the case with the bra your wearing this means that your wearing the incorrect underband size. This is a very common mistake most people are wearing too big a back size.
-
The wires should lie against your breast without digging in, and should fully encompass the breast. The wire at the front should sit back to your breast bone. If you have any marks from the wires then your in the incorrect size, if it stands away then you are in a cup size which is too small for you.
-
The most common mistake women make is too have the "4 boobs", or double busting. This is when you are over spilling the cup and the breast bulges over. You are in too small a cup size and you need to order the next cup size up.
Trying on your bra
Always fasten your new bra on the loosest hook and eye fastening. This is because as you wear the bra the bra will loosen and you will need to tighten up the hook and eye setting after many wears. Lean forward into the bra and using your hand scoop your breast fully in the cups.
Measuring your underband measurement
Take a tape measure and measure straight around your body frimly under your bust. If the measurement is an even number, add 4 inches (10 cm). If the measurement is an odd number, add 5 inches (12.5cm). E.g. If the measurement is 32inch then add 4 inch = 36. Therefore your correct bra size is 36in. If the measurement is 29inch the add 5inch = 34. Therefore your correct bra size is 34inch.
Measuring your cup size
Take a tape measure and measure around the fullest part of your bust straight around the body, you may need some help with this one. Your arms must be by your side. Now you need to calculate the difference between your underband measurement and your cup size on the below chart
Take your over bust measurement and work out the difference between that and your underband measurement.
